The importance of written wealth management agreements for Wellpoint executives

Do you have an agreement clearly describing compensation and the service level you can expect from your investment advisor? Before you enter into any financial relationship, ask to see a written copy of your agreement. Without one, you may find yourself stuck with excessive fees, arbitrary investment objectives and restrictions, and then some. Any agreement you enter into should be written down, easy to read and easily communicated by your investment advisor. Key components of any financial agreement or contract should include the services of the advisor; confidentiality and privacy practices; fee arrangements; investment objectives and restrictions; and termination and assignment disclosures. Taking the process one step further, Midwest Wealth Management, Inc. has created a 5-stage process called The Investor’s Access Program™. This unique program is designed to be an alternative route to wealth creation and protection for a more sophisticated investor, and includes the following steps: - Begin with a private suitability interview to evaluate fit. - Review and assess current financial resources, allocations and goals. - Review the Transition Map and agree to move ahead or revise. - Establish relationships and coordinate with all of your professional advisors. - Periodically meet to help ensure progress, monitor performance, and to evaluate opportunities. If you have any questions about advisory fees, procedures or a proper strategy for wealth accumulation, please visit our website at www.midwest-wealth.com. No matter where you are in the engagement process, Midwest Wealth Management creates a clear path to prosperity from start to finish. As a private investment group specializing in wealth management, Midwest Wealth Management, Inc. offers a proprietary trading platform, alternative investment offerings and dedicated advisory support for a select audience. Ok to work after you start collecting Social Security benefits?

If you are a Roche executive or a recent retiree, it’s important to consult with an investment advisor if you plan to keep working. Start working too early and your Social Security benefit reductions could last a lifetime. If you are among those working retirees who choose to collect early (before the FRA, or full retirement age is reached), you may be subject to a reduced benefit for life, depending on your primary insurance amount and FRA. In this case, picking up that retail or non-profit position could derail your investment management strategy, and your retirement. Let’s say you decide to retire, and your employer makes you an offer you cannot refuse. There’s also the EET or Excess Earning Test to consider. The EET says that if you collect early and keep on working, the benefit will go down further if you have earnings in excess of the established limit. If you choose to work full time, any amount over the earnings limit is subject to a $1 deduction for every $3 over. In this scenario, however, you are only penalized up until you reach FRA. Once you reach FRA the EET no longer applies to you. If your employer decides to keep you on at a six-figure salary, the temporary reduction will most likely be worth the effort. The bottom line- if you want to receive social security benefits and work before your FRA, arrange a meeting with your investment advisor to seek planning. Many firms have advanced software that can help determine how much of your income will be withheld during the year and how these decisions will impact your retirement. If that is not available, you can always visit your local Social Security Administration office to determine the amounts. Wealth management plays a critical role in generating retirement income.

Generally, a wealth management firm offers financial planning, investment portfolio management and a number of financial services to help clients generate retirement income. At Midwest Wealth Management, Inc., we manage asset management, estate planning, risk management, and taxation strategies for our clients. Investors who are considering a more aggressive investment strategy for managing their assets are wise to shop wealth management firms. Research indicates that there are income advantages to working with financial advisors who are wealth managers over those who are simply investment oriented. What is a wealth manager? Wealth managers are essentially consultants with the ability to offer, and deliver, a full range of financial services and investment products. A good wealth management advisor should meet with a client before giving any thought to what investment products or services are good for that individual. In our opinion, the best wealth management firms meet clients first to understand them and what is important to them, before suggesting the appropriate investment products. Although wealth managers have a vast array of financial products to choose from, the higher-end wealth managers do extensive research on investments. This enables them to recommend a few they believe to be beneficial to their clients, so it’s good to have an understanding of who a wealth management firm is upfront, and how their offerings align with personal financial goals. If you have any questions about the advantages and opportunities of alternative investments, we invite you to learn more at www.midwest-wealth.com. Investing in alternative investments may not be suitable for all investors and involves special risks, such as risk associated with leveraging the investment, adverse market forces, regulatory changes, and illiquidity. There is no assurance that the investment objective will be attained. As a private investment group specializing in wealth management, Midwest Wealth Management, Inc. offers a proprietary trading platform, alternative investment offerings and dedicated advisory support for a select audience. Legislative pension cuts loom. Indianapolis investment advisors offer Eli Lilly executives hope.

If you currently receive a defined benefit pension, or will be in the future, you would be wise to consult with an investment advisor to discuss alternative investment products. Significant pension reforms were signed into law by the President recently that will potentially impact retirement for approximately 10 million Americans. The purpose of these reforms is to stop the collapse of multi-employer pension plans. By revising the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), these reforms grant plan trustees broad powers to cut retired workers’ benefits, if they can show such activities would prolong the life of the plan. Who will be affected? Retirees in the construction, mining and food retailing industries. Private sector workers in single-employer plans, workers and retirees in public sector pension plans, or those participating in defined contribution plans will not be affected. With the disappearance of pension plans, generating income during retirement is of critical importance. Working from a defined contribution model outside of an existing pension, retirees are faced with having to manage large sums of money. For discerning investors, Midwest Wealth Management, Inc. of Indianapolis offers flexible investment management solutions to compensate for any changes in your pension, and ensure your savings is producing income well into retirement. Investing in alternative investments may not be suitable for all investors and involves special risks, such as risk associated with leveraging the investment, adverse market forces, regulatory changes, and illiquidity.
